UHS students continue to voice concerns at Mon Co. BOE meeting

We’ve been telling you about the on-going concerns from University High School students and parents about their principal, Dr. Shari Burgess. Monday students held a peaceful protest calling for change and Tuesday night students voiced their concerns at the Monongalia County Board of Education meeting.

"The inclusion of a mere four months of spending on health care benefits for retired miners and widows is a slap in the face," Cecil E. Roberts said in part.

The documents are requests for restraining orders filed by and against Derick Ion Almena, the leaseholder of the cavernous structure known as the Ghost Ship.

Democrats say the solution offered by the Kentucky Republican is only temporary and does not protect pension benefits that also are at risk.
