Satellite Truck

WDTV presents to you our newest vehicle in our fleet. This Ford E350 Digital Satellite Uplink truck has the latest in technology and is one of few like it in the United States.

Equipped with a 1.5 meter satellite dish, an 80 watt transmitter, a 48 foot microwave mast,  two DVCPro digital tape decks, production switcher, 16 channel audio board, 4.7KW generator and a Triton V8 engine, this vehicle promises to out perform the competition! It is capable of transmitting to us at WDTV from nearly anywhere in North America.

video switching and monitoring in the center and audio
and a/v patching on the right.

Utilizing MPEG2 compression, the uplink technology only uses one forth or less of a satellite transponder, or one slice in technical jargon. Also, even though the transmitter is capable of emitting 80 watts, in many cases only around 10 watts are ever needed.
