Andrew Havranek joined the 5 News Team in June 2014 as the Harrison, Lewis and Doddridge County Reporter.
In April 2015, Andrew took over the anchor desk on Saturdays and Sundays, and shifted his beat to Monongalia and Preston counties, and then was named the anchor and producer of 5 News Daybreak and West Virginia Midday in October.
He is from Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, which is a small town just north of Pittsburgh. He graduated from Duquesne University in May 2014 with a Bachelors of Arts in Political Science and Multi-Platform Journalism.
While at Duquesne, Andrew was very involved in different groups on campus such as New Student Orientation, DUQ-TV News 14, was an active brother of the Sigma Nu Fraternity, and also performed in musicals with Spotlight Musical Theatre Company.
Andrew held several internships in the Pittsburgh area, covering high school football for Pittsburgh Sports Report, and KDKA-TV for Political and Business Reporting.
Andrew is a huge sports fan. He is an avid follower of the Pittsburgh Penguins, Steelers and Pirates, but is also a fan of the Colorado Avalanche, Miami Heat, and of course, the Duquesne Dukes.
In his free time, Andrew likes to spend time with his family and friends, listen to music, and loves to be outside swimming and golfing during the summer months.
Andrew is excited to be a part of the 5 News Team here in West Virginia! If you have any story ideas, feel free to email him at firstname.lastname@example.org. If you see him in your area, don't be afraid to say hi!
