Pierce Legeion
I joined the 5 News team in May of 2012 as Weekend Meteorologist and Weekday Reporter before moving into my current position as the Daybreak and Midday Meteorologist in December of 2012. I grew up just north of the border in the small town of West Newton, Pennsylvania.  After graduating from Penn State University with a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology, I spent several years at my hometown’s TV station, WNCTV 7, doing everything from production to weather.  My experiences there led to my opportunity here at 5 News.
Weather has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember.  As a kid, I drew lots of weather maps and watched countless hours of the Weather Channel.  The event that solidified my love for weather was the Blizzard of ’93, which dropped 2 feet of snow in my hometown.  It was also the first time I ever saw thundersnow, which was definitely a cool experience as a 9 year old.
Despite growing up just 30 miles south of Pittsburgh, I did grow up a Mountaineer fan, so there’s no need to worry there.  I also am a fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins and Steelers, as well as the Penn State Nittany Lions.
In my spare time, I love spending time outdoors.  I love to bike, hike and swim.  I really look forward to living in North Central West Virginia, and bringing you your First Alert forecast bright and early on weekday mornings.  Please be sure to “like” me on Facebook, and follow me on Twitter!  Also, if you have feedback or a weather story idea, feel free to email me at plegeion@wdtv.com.
