Shannon Chavez

Shannon Chavez joined the 5 News team in June of 2014. She will co-anchor the Daybreak show and report for the Midday broadcast.
Shannon recently moved to the Mountain State from Pittsburgh, PA.  She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Duquesne University, earning a Bachelors Degree in Broadcast Journalism and Public Relations.
While in school, Shannon was involved in a number of organizations. She worked with Duquesne's Athletic department as a reporter, photographer, and editor for goduquesne.com and served as a multi platform journalist for DUQ-TV News 14. Shannon gave campus tours for the admissions office and was involved with new student orientation.  She also loved volunteering with the sisters of Zeta Tau Alpha.
Shannon had the privilege of interning with Pittsburgh news station, KDKA-TV, as well as with the Pittsburgh Penguins.
In her free time, Shannon roots for the Pens, Pirates, Steelers, and of course, the Duquesne Dukes.  She enjoys spending time with friends and watching movies at home with her mom and cat, Buddy.
