Austin is very excited to be a reporter at WDTV. He joined the 5 News team in October 2015, and covers Marion, Taylor, and Barbour counties.

More importantly, Austin is excited to not only bring you the news about the stories you care about, but he is excited to meet the people of West Virginia and to call our great state his new home.

A graduate of the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, Austin earned his B.S. in Broadcast and Digital Journalism in May 2015.

Originally a native of Boston, Austin was active on the airwaves of Central New York while at Syracuse. He hosted a Syracuse sports talk show on the CBS affiliate radio station in Syracuse. Austin was also involved as the Public Relations Chairman for Syracuse University Relay for Life, and helped lead an organization that was named the fourth best college Relay event in New York and New Jersey in 2015. Austin also did on-air work for NCC News at Syracuse.

Austin originally thought he would go into baseball play-by-play. He spent a summer calling baseball games on Cape Cod, as well as the 2014 summer in Alaska. Before his summer in Alaska, he interned for the 2014 Winter Olympics, and studied in London for two months.

While he's not in the studio or out in the field, Austin enjoys going to the gym, watching his beloved Red Sox and Syracuse Orange, and checking out the wild and wonderful places that make up the Mountain State.

Austin is excited to meet the people of West Virginia, and to help you share your stories and let your voice be heard. If you see him around, please say hello! He would love to hear anything you have to say! You can also email him at apollack@wdtv.com.
