59 miners laid off at Fairview mine

FAIRVIEW, W.Va. (WDTV) -- According to the United Mine Workers of America, 59 coal miners in Fairview were laid off Monday.

The miners worked at the ERP Federal No. 2 Mine, owned by the ERP Environmental Fund. They say the layoffs are due to economic and ecological conditions at the mine.

UMWA officials say they hope the conditions approve, so the miners will be called back to work.
