A group of WVU students collected donations for those affected by recent hurricanes

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. (WDTV) - Students from the McNair Scholars Program in WVU had a table on the Mountainlair on campus to help collect monetary donations for the Red Cross.

This is part of their community service project, which they hope it will raise enough funds to help those in parts of Texas, Florida and the Caribbean.

"Our goal is to hopefully raise as much as we can from people coming through the Mountainlair and anyone who wants to donate in general," said London Orzolek, a junior who is a member of the program. "If they can't donate to us, just donate to the red cross or to anywhere in general that can help."

The McNair Scholars Program is designed to help unrepresented college students get to graduate school.

Their fundraising efforts end Friday, September 15.
