Activists in Clarksburg demanding justice for migrant families

CLARKSBURG, W. Va. (WDTV) - Dozens of people rallying in Clarksburg, Thursday, demanding justice for migrant families.

A similar rally was being held in Charleston. The American Civil Liberties Union of West Virginia, Our Children Our Future, Mountaineers for Progress, Upshur County Indivisible - Votes and Wood County Indivisible, along with immigration supporters, delivered a letter to U.S. Attorneys William Powell and Michael Stuart, demanding that separated children within their jurisdictions be reunited with families.

Folks in attendance were encouraging the men to engage in what they were calling "appropriate procedures" when it comes to separating families at the border - to them, that meant not to do it anymore.

Supporters were encouraging officials to continue the catch and release program, which allows to track illegal immigrants and bring them back for hearings. They don't believe separating families is solving any issue, but rather causing administrative challenges.
