Bridgeport Police Department addresses social media post

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (WDTV) -- The Bridgeport Police Department is addressing a social media post they say is "causing widespread concern for the safety," of the community.

According to the department, the post refers to a person speaking to law enforcement officials about human trafficking from ages 4 and up, and being told that the problem is out of control and to not allow kids to visit the mall or theater by themselves.

The department says they have "no knowledge" of what is referred to in the post and says the post may have been meant to cause fear. They say if the situation was true, action would be taken immediately, including informing the public of the situation.
