Bridgeport club hosts final penny auction

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (WDTV) - The final penny auction for the GFWC Bridgeport Junior Women's Club was held Sunday afternoon where items were auctioned off at low prices.

All proceeds and donations went to the community of Bridgeport. The Backpack Program and food pantries across Harrison County reap the benefits of this annual auction.

"I think the getting to see the results of the work that the club puts out would have to be my favorite part of it. We do a lot of great things and a lot of things behind the scene that the community doesn't know about. To kind of see the fruits of our labor, if you will, is very rewarding. To see the difference we've made in the Backpack Program alone is fantastic," said Co-President Elizabeth Rice.

The community will still be able to donate to the club.
