CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A Milton man is charged with murder after allegedly killing a man and hiding his body, West Virginia State Police say.
Brian Bragg, 30, of Milton, is charged with second-degree murder and concealing a human body.
The victim is identified as Michael Sutphin, according to information from Cabell County Magistrate Court.
Troopers say around 5 p.m. Tuesday, a man came into the WVSP Huntington detachment saying he had killed a man and had hidden his body in his van. He claimed the van had been stolen.
Around that same time, troopers received a call about a van that crashed off Barker Ridge Road in the Milton area.
Later Bragg said the van wasn’t stolen and changed his story several times, according to troopers.
Sutphin was stabbed near a home along Martha Road in Cabell County, according to the criminal complaint. His body, which appeared "to be completely frozen," was found covered in debris inside the van, the complaint states.
A motive for the killing is unclear at this time.
Troopers do not believe the murder was random and say it appears other people are involved. The Cabell County Sheriff's Office is assisting with the investigation.
