UPDATE: Clarksburg home ruled total loss in early morning fire

CLARKSBURG, W.Va (WDTV)- UPDATE 5:00 AM
Officials on scene say an early morning fire destroyed a home on South 5th Street in Clarksburg early Tuesday morning.

At least two people people were home at the time. Both made it out safely. Unfortunately the family pet did not survive the flames.

The fire is under investigation, but the Chief says it is not believed to be suspicious.

ORIGINAL STORY

Crews were called to the scene of a house fire in Clarksburg early Tuesday morning.

According to dispatchers, the fire started at a home on South 5th Street just after 2:00.

The home was badly damaged. The cause is unknown and under investigation.

Officials on scene say at least one resident was home at the time, but made it out without any injuries.

Clarksburg Fire, Police and EMS were on scene.
