HARRISON COUNTY, W.Va (WDTV) Members of the Benedum Airport Authority met on Wednesday to review the airport's budget, construction plans, and special projects.

The main focus of the meeting, however, was a presentation from the city of Clarksburg regarding a sponsorship opportunity at the Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center.

The center's director spoke before the authority members Wednesday, requesting a $100,000 donation to support programming sponsorship, as well as the installation of a lighting system for the top of the theater .

"I don't know if there's a better combination for any other corporation," said Ryan Tolley, the executive director of the center. "It just seems so fitting for an airport, with all the lights and everything that they do, it's just a great fit."

Plans for the center, which is slated for a soft opening in August, include a light fixture that would be mounted on the roof of the theatre.

The mounted system, which is inspired by a similar one at the University of Pittsburgh Cathedral of Learning, would project lights into the air to attract people to the center.

Tolley envisions a marketing campaign that includes the tagline: "Following the CKB Searchlight."

Members of the authority said they were interested in the idea and have taken the matter under advisement to consider at a later date.
