CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WDTV) -- For those affected by the flooding, mudslides and landslides caused by the storms on July 28 and 29, the deadline to register for FEMA assistance is days away.
Officials say the deadline to register is October 17. To register with FEMA, you can call 1-800-621-3362. Those using 711 or Video Relay Services can call 800-621-3362 and TTY users can call 800-462-7585. The numbers are toll-free and operate from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. You can also register at disasterassistance.gov.
If you were referred to submit a disaster loan application to the U.S. Small Business Administration, it must be submitted by October 17 as well. Officials say that submitting a loan application does not necessarily mean that a loan will be granted, but submitting one is a necessary step to be considered for other assistance. FEMA says assistance granted is not based on income, but on the amount of damage caused by the storms and any insurance settlements.
