BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (WDTV)-- For the Reid family, foster care was their way to help make a difference.
"The goal is for reunification with the biological parents, but if that is not possible then you are able to adopt," said Tammy Reid.
And that's just what they did. The family was blessed with their daughter Izy. She had a rough first year, but the family said it was love at first sight.
"She was in NICU and we got to meet her after two weeks after her birth," said Larry Reid.
Izy has found her forever family and is a happy, energetic 3-year-old.
"She loves playing with her babies, she loves walking and running. Summer is coming so she loves swimming," said Tammy.
Larry also has a 21-year-old daughter, so Izy has a big sister. But soon, she will be receiving a little brother. The family went through the fostering process and will officially be adopting a little boy.
"It was difficult at first, but now she loves it and says 'we get to keep him forever,"' said Tammy.
The Reid's couldn't be more excited about the news of expanding their family. They said this process has been a miracle and they urge other families to follow in their footsteps.
"Foster families are great ways to start to get into adoption for anybody that is looking to go that route," said Larry.
"Just call and get involved. It will make such a difference all the way around. Yes you have your hard days, but they are all worth it," said Tammy.
