Five local students honored in Charleston

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WDTV) -- Five local students were honored in the state capitol for their work helping fellow students register to vote.

Notre Dame High School students Christian Palmer and Marielle Carter, and Fairmont Senior High School students Jarrett Schleicher, Jarryd Powell, and Hayden Moran were honored by Secretary of State Mac Warner Friday at his office in Charleston.

They are five of 49 students selected across the state for the Honorary Secretary of State Program, which gives students the opportunity to shadow Secretary Warner and his staff during the state legislative session.
