UPDATE: Suspect gives false identity after weekend arrest

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WDTV)-- UPDATE 9/12/17
The Morgantown Police Department released a statement Tuesday stating one of four men arrested over the weekend forged his identity.

21-year-old Keldon Michael Bell identified himself as Damarie Stewart when he was taken into custody and charged with Wanton Endangerment.

Morgantown Police say Bell's true identity has since been revealed and he has been charged with Wanton Endangerment and Forgery.

Officials stated that Damarie Stewart "was not arrested, charged or the suspect of any crime by the Morgantown Police Department."

Bell is currently being held at North Central Regional Jail.


Four people are behind bars after an incident last night in Morgantown.

According to police, they responded to University Avenue for a report of a suspect waving a firearm. When they arrived, they found several cars trying to leave the area and a victim lying on the ground with a head injury. He was later taken to Ruby Memorial Hospital.

Officers stopped a vehicle from leaving the area and located a firearm that had previously been reported stolen as well as marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The following people were arrested:

UPDATE—Keldon Michael Bell, 21, of Ranson, was charged with wanton endangerment and Forgery

— Edward White, 19, of Greensboro Pa., was charged with disorderly conduct, obstructing an officer and public intoxication.

— Lawrence Morris, 20, of Morgantown, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and battery.

— Christian Coles, 22, address unverified, was charged with concealing stolen property and possession of controlled substance.
