BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (WDTV) -- Residents in Bridgeport have the chance to learn a little more about gospel music next weekend.
A gospel group from Washington D.C. is set to come to town, in celebration of the all saints' parish 70th anniversary. The all African-American choir "Composition of Praise," will put on a music workshop the morning of Saturday, August 19th. They'll also sing some of the masses that weekend and perform a free concert Sunday at 4 p.m.
Director of Music and Liturgy, Stephen Pishner, says this is an opportunity to learn how faith and music intertwine.
"One denomination may do it one way. One may do it another way, but we're still singing to the same God. So, a lot of likenesses, and perhaps, there will be a lot of sharing amongst the different denominations that attend."
This is made possible through a grant the parish received. In October, a grammy award winning 'a capella' male vocal ensemble will perform.
