CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WDTV) -- The organization Volunteer West Virginia announced Friday that the Corporation for National and Community Service has granted them $262,000.

The money from the competitive Volunteer Generation Fund grant will be used to better help organizations get and retain volunteers to deal with issues important to the Mountain State.

The Fund will also provide funding through a competition, for a rural volunteer management training program, which will support localities in improving the coordination of volunteer efforts.

The Corporation for National and Community Service also granted Volunteer West Virginia over $4 million for state AmeriCorps programs earlier in the summer.
