FIRST ON 5: UPDATE: Pittsburgh fugitive arrested after police pursuit

HARRISON COUNTY, W.Va. (WDTV) -- UPDATE 5:08 PM
The following information has been provided by the U.S. Marshal’s Service.

25-year-old Jason Millward was arrested Monday after a police pursuit in Harrison County.

Millward, of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania was wanted in Allegheny County, PA after failing to appear for his trial three weeks ago.

In 2015, Millward was arrested for aggravated assault of a police officer after he stabbed a deputy sheriff at the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Oakland, PA. The deputy sheriff was guarding Millward’s hospital room as he was treated for a minor, self-inflicted wound following another, unrelated arrest. Afterward, Millward was released on bond and became a fugitive.

In January 2017, Millward was located in an apartment in Adamsburg, PA. During that arrest, Millward attempted to escape by jumping out of a third-story window, but was caught by deputies before falling. Millward was arrested and faced additional charges of resisting arrest, aggravated assault and fleeing.

Millward was released on bail but failed to show up for his October trial. Millward once again became a fugitive until he was discovered Monday outside of a hotel near Tolley Drive in Bridgeport. After locating Millward’s car at the hotel, Millward and a female companion were seen leaving the hotel and getting into the car.

Deputy Marshals approached the vehicle to arrest Millward when he fled. Millward drove a lap around the parking lot before the car was blocked in. Millward then left the vehicle and fled into a wooded area between Lodgeville Road and I-79 near the Route 50 interchange, where he was arrested.

Millward will be charged by the Clarksburg Police Department as a fugitive from justice. He also faces other charges of fraud, identity theft, and forgery in Pennsylvania.

Millward will face extradition proceedings in Harrison County before returning to Pittsburgh. He will be held in North Central Regional Jail.
