How to keep pets safe during eclipse

HARRISON COUNTY, W.Va (WDTV) - Pet safety experts say it's important to take precautions with your pets during the solar eclipse Monday.

While families shouldn't have to worry about their dogs and cats staring into the sun (because inherently, they don't do that), experts warn it's possible the pets will experience adverse effects at eclipse viewing parties.

Pets could very well become spooked if they're around large crowds of people, so therefore, experts suggest keeping them indoors or on a leash under careful watch.

The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) encourages people to monitor their pets closely during the event if they have any concerns.
