MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WDTV) -- Sources in Monongalia County tell 5 News that the jury has ruled in favor of the county in the wrongful death civil case of Christie Cathers.
The jury went into deliberation this afternoon. The lawsuit was filed against the Monongalia County Sheriff's Office and the Monongalia County Commission after a deputy shot and killed 45-year-old Christie Cathers in June of 2015 following a pursuit. A courtroom source told 5 News that it was assessed that nearly 90% of the incident was Cathers fault.
