Kate's Corner: Eggs made easy

BRIDGEPORT, W. Va. (WDTV) - If you have ever tried to make egg whites, separating the whites and the yolks can be difficult. I'm going to teach you a very simple and easy way to separate the yolks.

Here's what you'll need:
- Eggs
- A plastic bottle
- Two bowls or plates

On one plate we are going to break some eggs. Now let's get the yolks out. Just place the mouth of the bottle over the yolk and squeeze then release. Squeeze the bottle again on a different plate to release the yolk. You can even do more than one at a time.

So how does this work? When you squeeze the bottle, the air decreases inside. Releasing the squeeze allows air to rush back in. If you cover the mouth with yolk, the yolk rushes in and not air. The yolk separates from the egg white easily because the two have different viscosities. The yolk is more solid than the runny egg whites so it slides into the bottle easier.
