Kate's Corner: Invisible soda

By  |

BRIDGEPORT, W. Va (WDTV) - In this Kate's Corner we need some more soda! We are using it this time to learn about chemical reactions.

Here's what you'll need:
- A bottle of dark, non-diet soda
- 2% milk
- Patience

All we are going to do it add some milk into and sit back and watch what happens.

Over time, the soda becomes clearer and clear and you'll see clumpy brown bits at the bottom.

Why is this happening?

Well, the acid in the soda curdles the milk. That was the stuff you saw sinking to the bottom of the bottle.

So by putting in just a small amount of milk into your soda you're creating a chemical reaction and after a while, changing your drink from a dark brown color to clear!

Fun to watch but I would NOT suggest drinking it.
