Kate's Corner: Make a New Year's confetti popper

BRIDGEPORT, W. Va. (WDTV) - This weekend we are closing out the year of 2016 and ringing in 2017. So in this edition of Kate's Corner we are making confetti poppers.

All you need is a balloon, a paper towel or toilet paper roll, scissors, tape and of course, some glitter.

The first step is to cut off the tip of your balloon then put it on the end of the paper towel roll. Tape the balloon down to secure it. Tie your balloon and decorate the roll.

Once you have decorated your popper, pour some glitter in your roll.

When the clock hits midnight, pull down on your balloon!

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. When you pull down on the balloon, potential energy builds up. Once you release the balloon, the stored energy forces the confetti up and out.
