MOMSEVERYDAY -- How do you keep fresh herbs fresh longer? And what do you do with the rest of the bunch when you only use a tablespoon at a time. Food blogger Alice Choi from Hip Foodie Mom shares some answers with MomsEveryday Executive Producer Pam Tauscher.
Alice: "This is a great way to use your herbs right before they’re about to go bad. Just make sure you’re not wasting them. Chop them up, put them in an ice cube tray, fill it up with olive oil and throw it in the freezer overnight. You can pop these out, it saves time with meal prep and you can use these for all sorts of things."
Pam: "Pop it in a recipe, your spaghetti sauce, whatever. What about when we first buy the herbs? You only need a couple of tablespoons or whatever."
Alice: "Yes, this is a fabulous way to keep fresh herbs lasting longer, so when you buy them from a grocery store, come home, put them in a glass jar or any kind of glass container, fill it with cold water – you wanna put a loose baggie over the top and keep it in your refrigerator. This will help keep your herbs lasting longer, at least another week or two."
