UPDATE: More information released after man charged with murder in Upshur County

More information has been released after a man in Upshur County was charged with murder.

Police say 65-year-old Timothy McWilliams was charged in the alleged murder of his father, 85-year-old Leo McWilliams.

Deputies responded to a call about a self-inflicted stab wound at 449 West Victoria Street in Buckhannon. Officials say Leo was found dead on a floor with a wound to his neck. Timothy was also at the scene with a wounded forearm. He was treated and arrested for the alleged murder.

Family members tell 5 News that they stand by Timothy and believe he acted in self-defense. They say Leo suffered from Alzheimers and dementia.

The investigation is ongoing.

A man has been arrested for the murder of another man in Upshur County.

According to the Upshur County Sheriff's Department, deputies responded to a call about a self-inflicted stab wound on West Victoria Street.

Officials say Leo McWilliams was found dead on a floor with a wound to his neck.

Timothy McWilliams was also at the scene with a wounded forearm. He was treated and charged with murder.

The Sheriff's Department is investigating.
