Mon Power works to restore power to Hurricane Irma victims

BRADENTON, F.la. (WDTV) -- As the efforts to restore power to Irma victims continue, local workers are lending a helping hand.

40 employees form Mon Power, including 21 linemen, have gone to Florida to help restore power in the Bradenton, Florida area to assist Florida Power and Light customers. They are stationed at the Sarasota Fairgrounds.

Officials say that parent company First Energy has over 600 employees, as well as over 600 contractors to assist with hurricane relief.

The Mon Power workers are expected to continue to stay in Florida for over a week.
