MARION COUNTY, W. Va. (WDTV) -- UPDATE
According to dispatchers, police and emergency crews have cleared the scenes of all accidents along I-79 in Marion County.
Traffic should be moving again.
Multiple accidents have brought traffic to a halt along I-79 in Marion County, Friday evening.
According to dispatchers, one person was taken to Fairmont Regional Medical Center after an accident near the 131.5 mile marker in the northbound lanes around 6:24 p.m.
Just four minutes later, an accident in the southbound lanes near mile marker 137 ended with one person taken to UHC.
About 20 minutes after those accidents, another one happened in the northbound lanes at milemarker 138. No one was hurt in that incident. There was also an accident around mile marker 133 where no one was hurt.
State Police and the Marion County Sheriff's Department are investigating. None of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening.
While the highway is not shut down, traffic is at a standstill. You're advised to avoid the area, if possible.
