UPDATE: Flames destroy Lumberport home

LUMBERPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - UPDATE 3:54 AM

A home was destroyed after an early morning fire in Lumberport.

According to officials on scene, residents were home at the time the blaze started. They say they heard a loud crack and then smelled smoke.

Officials say lightning could have caused sparked the fire. Residents were able to make it out of the home safely.

The home is ruled a total loss.

Multiple crews responded to the scene of a working fire at a home in Lumberport.

According to 911 officials, the incident was called in just after 2:30 am at a home on Skylark Lane.

No injuries have been reported at this time.

Lumberport Fire, Shinnston Fire, Wallace Fire, Spelter Fire, and Harrison EMS responded to the scene.
