New York man sentenced to over 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to drug charge

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WDTV) -- A New York man has been sentenced for working to distribute crack cocaine in West Virginia.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Clarksburg, 31-year-old Derrick Sutton of New York, New York was sentenced to over 12 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to one count of "Aiding and Abetting Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine Base" in August 2017.

Officials say Sutton admitted to working with others to distribute crack cocaine in Monongalia County in March 2017.

The Mon Metro Drug & Violent Crime Task Force investigated the case.
