One person arrested after police pursuit ends in crash in Morgantown

MORGANTOWN, W.Va (WDTV)- One person is in police custody following a pursuit that ended in a crash in Monongalia County, Thursday morning.

According to a press release from the Morgantown Police Department, 34-year-old Tyrone Terell Jackson of Clarksburg was the person taken into custody.

Just before 3 am police attempted to pull Jackson over after a traffic violation in the downtown area. When the officer activated his lights, Jackson began traveling at high speeds until he crashed his vehicle at the intersection of South High Street and Dorsey Avenue, where he began a short pursuit on foot.

The suspects vehicle traveled through a guardrail and landed in the Oak Grove Cemetery causing damage to at least one grave. Jackson taken in to custody a short time later without incident.

Jackson is charged with fleeing with reckless indifference, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession with intent to deliver cocaine, possession with intent to deliver heroin, and possession with intent to deliver hydrocodone. He is being held at the Monongalia County Sheriffs Office where he will await arraignment.
