LEWIS COUNTY W. Va. (WDTV) - At a press conference Friday, investigators confirmed that Aliayah Lunsford, who went missing five years ago, is deceased.
According to investigators, evidence has come to light that Aliayah was killed by her mother.
According to Lena Lunsford's criminal complaint, Lunsford struck Aliayah in the head with a solid hand-held object in their home in 2011.
The complaint also says that a witness saw Aliayah fall to the ground and Lunsford did not help provide medical assistance and took steps to conceal the crime.
Lena Lunsford was arrested in Pinellas County, Florida Thursday for “Death of a Child by a Parent by Child Abuse”.
During Friday's press conference, Lewis County Sheriff Adam Gissy said that investigators believe that the only one who knows the location of Aliayah Lunsford's body is now in custody. He declined to answer further questions.
