UPDATE: Man flown to hospital from stabbing in Fairmont

FAIRMONT, W.Va (WDTV)- UPDATE:

5 News has learned that one man is out of surgery after being flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital from a stabbing early Wednesday morning.

Police said a 21-year-old man was stabbed in self-defense by a 37-year-old man on the 500 block of Locust Avenue. Their names are not being released at this time. The 21-year-old is expected to fully recover.

Charges are pending against the 37-year-old man.

The Fairmont Police Department is investigating a reported stabbing on Locust Avenue.

According to 911 dispatchers, the incident happened on the sidewalk at 12:00 am Wednesday.

Reports say one person was transported to the hospital following the incident.A suspect is not in custody at this time.
