Elks Foundation honors 30 students with scholarships

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WDTV)-- In Morgantown Saturday, 30 students were awarded with scholarships by the Elks national Foundation.

The Elks Foundation is a community-service and scholarship organization that works to improve communities and quality of life for veterans. The scholarships were awarded to students who are dedicated to community service. scholarships can be on either a national or state level.

National scholarships can be up to $50,000, while the state level can reach $2,500. Sean Doyle, a student from Grafton who will be attending Marshall University, wants to become a doctor. He said the scholarship will make affording school much easier.

The president of the Elks National Foundation said these scholarships help the state's brightest students achieve their dreams.

The Elks hold a scholarship essay contest for elementary schools and those winners were also recognized at the ceremony.
