CHARLESTON, W.Va. (WDTV) -- UPDATE The House of Delegates also voted in favor of the budget bill, Friday night, in a 64-25 vote.
Both the Senate and House of Delegates will reconvene at 11:00 a.m. on June 26th, 2017.
ORIGINAL STORYThe state Senate passed a $4.225 billion budget, Friday night.
The Senate did a strike and insert amendment for the budget that limits cuts to Medicaid and higher education through use of transfers and expected surpluses.
Lawmakers say it was an "agreed to" version with the House of Delegates. The bill now returns to the House. It's believed the House will vote to accept the same budget.
Unlike the budget the Senate passed earlier this week, this plan is expected to preserve Medicaid funding. As for higher education, cuts would be around four percent, which is less than what the Senate passed earlier in the week.
The Senate also passed SB 1006, increasing funding for the road fund.
