PRESTON COUNTY, W.Va (WDTV) - A photo has spread rapidly across social media, such as in groups such as the Mon and Preston Rumor Mill, of a dog that appeared to be freezing to death.
5 News reached out to the Preston County Sheriff's Department for more information on what they say happened.
We were told that the dog was 11 years old, in a dog box with straw, food, and water. The Sheriff said according to West Virginia Code, there is no crime associated with this and it was all on private property.
Several of you have made suggestions that changes should be made to the law to further protect animals from the cold.
