UPDATE: Administrators investigating online threat made by student

MILL CREEK, W. Va. (WDTV) -- UPDATE: 7:41 a.m.

Assistant Superintendent Rich Carr tells 5 News the Tygarts Valley Middle/High School received a threat from a male student.

They believe that threat was made on Facebook, however, administrators have researched and investigated and found the threats were not credible.

School officials say they have been in contact with the student who made the threat and his family, as well as with law enforcement regarding the threat.

Officers are at the school today. School administrators say they are taking steps to ensure the safety of students.

5 News spoke with worried parents and will have those interviews, plus the latest information from school officials Friday evening.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A post on the Tygarts Valley Middle/High School Facebook page alleges they are looking into a situation involving the safety of it's students.

The post reads:

"We are presently addressing a situation that concerns the safety of our students. While attempting to search for answers we have requested anyone in question to stay home tomorrow, 5/5/17. We hope this will calm emotions and allow an investigation to safely occur."
