Traffic alterations to occur for Morgantown Parade

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (WDTV) -- The Morgantown Police Department says drivers can expect downtown traffic alterations due to the Jaycees Christmas Parade Monday evening.

Officials say that parking will be restricted on High, Prospect, and North High streets beginning at 5:30 p.m. Monday.

The parade will begin at 6:30 p.m. on High Street. During the parade, traffic will be detoured from Willey Street to Prospect Street, up Fife Street and down North High Street. Traffic will then be detoured to the right onto Maiden Lane and then back to University Avenue.

MPD officers will be at all affected intersections to help with traffic. Any drivers wishing to avoid the detour can travel on College Avenue from Willey Street to University Avenue.

The department urges parade spectators to arrive early to allow enough time for parking. Traffic patterns will be returned to normal as soon as possible after the parade.
