UPDATE: One found dead after early morning fire

One person was found dead inside a home that caught fire Tuesday morning.

According to a press release, crews were called to a fire on Smithtown Road at 5:45 a.m. The home was considered to be a fully involved fire when crews arrived on the scene.

After the fire was extinguished, crews found one person dead inside the home. That person's identity is being withheld until family members can be contacted.

Crews from Clinton District, Cool Springs, Triune-Halleck and Granville Fire Departments responded. Monongalia County Emergency Medical Personnel, as well as the Medical Examiner, were also on scene.

Monongalia County Sheriff's Office Detectives and the West Virginia State Fire Marshal's Office are investigating.
