UPDATE: State police searching for vehicle in connection to man's death

FAIRMONT, W.Va. (WDTV) -- West Virginia State Police’s Fairmont Detachment has released more information about a deadly incident on I-79 Thursday evening.

Authorities say that around 6:35 p.m., 56-year-old Marvin Bell was repairing his vehicle on I-79 northbound when a wheel from an unknown utility trailer struck him. Bell was taken to United Hospital Center and later died.

Information later obtained described the vehicle the tire came from as a blue or dark Ford 1 dually truck pulling a tri axle trailer and hauling two vehicles. Officials say the truck is believed to have pulled off at the weigh station at milepost 140.

The West Virginia State Police are actively trying to locate the truck. They say no criminal charges are being sought, but that they are “looking for information to resolve this and give closure to the family.”

Anyone with information about the vehicle is asked to call TFC H.C. Meyers from the Fairmont Detachment of the West Virginia State Police at 304-367-2701.
