WVU Foundation kicks off inaugural 'Day of Giving'

WVU kicked off it's very first 'Day of Giving', a 24 hour online fundraiser, to help tackle the university's biggest needs.

This is the first year for the day of giving.

The WVU foundation came up with the event as a way to encourage alumni and faculty to give back, and as a way to say "thank you" to the University that has given the alumni so much.

Organizers said that some of the school's programs rely on outside sources like these donations, not funding from the state.

Booths were set up where current students could write thank-you notes to donors.

So far, over $2 million has been raised by more than 1,000 donors. The fundraiser runs until midnight. You can learn more about the 'Day of Giving' by checking out our related link.
