Our mouths are watering thinking about Thanksgiving dinner, but our minds may be cringing at the cost of it all. We have some savings tips in today’s MomsEveryday minute.
Thanksgiving dinner may be the most highly anticipated meal of the year. Mashed potatoes, turkey, pumpkin pie.... It’s no wonder families come together annually for this great feast.
But with all of the fixings, the cost can really add up at the grocery store. Here are some tips to help you save money this holiday from savingsangel.com.
-First, don’t make so much food! We typically overestimate how much we’ll need. An adult should be served 4 ounces of meat, a half cup for sides and 1 or 2 small pieces of dessert. Cut that in half for kids. Leftovers are popular, so if you want some, add 10 to 15 percent more. Just remember, a refrigerated turkey should be eaten up within four days.
-Another great way to save money is to make your meal a potluck. Invite guests to bring a dish that you’ll need to complete the meal.
-Finally, make everything from scratch. It’ll take time, but it’s cheaper than buying dishes already prepared.
