FAIRMONT, W. Va. (WDTV) -- It's that time to pack your bags and take off to the Caribbean or Europe or even just simply here in the Mountain State.
However, before you board, ask yourself "what do I do if I want to find the best travel deals?"
"The best time to book a flight and get a good deal is as early as possible," said Beverly Slider, owner of Travel Emporium in Fairmont.
She says the latest to look for a good deal is two weeks before the scheduled flight.
If you search online, clear your browser cookies.
"If you go back into the same site two or three times, they know it and they change the price and up the price," she said.
Slider says it's better to look straight from the airline's site instead of a travel search engine and another tip she recommends:
"Wednesdays and Thursdays are your best days of the whole week to travel because you have people leaving for the weekend on Friday and you have people trying to get back for work on Monday, so Sunday flights are tied up," Slider told 5 News.
The website FareCompare has found that the best times to book a domestic flight is Tuesday at 3 p.m.
If flying out is beyond your budget, West Virginia has numerous parks, resorts and more for a nice vacation, but also booking should be as soon as possible.
"Usually your booking window is 11 months out," said Slider.
She recommends using a travel agent when looking into your next vacation. They can work with you to find the best packages and they can match the price.
"It's sort of like Russian roulette," she said.
