Locals celebrate Father's Day

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. (WDTV) - Many families made stopping at the Bridgeport Farmer's Market part of their Father's Day plans Sunday morning. Afterwards, some of you were looking forward to dinner, biking or going to church together.

The kids say some of their favorite memories with their dad include playing basketball, video games or going hiking. No matter what the plans were, they said they were just happy to be spending the day with their dad.

"I think it's nice. I always like to hang out with my family," said local resident Inez Behrens.

Her brother, Will Behrens, said he agreed. "I really enjoy being able to come here and be with my family on Father's Day, especially with my father on Father's Day."

Local parents, Dave and Adriane Janssen, said that the holiday is a special day for them.

"It's pretty much the most important thing in the world to me. I get to hang out with them and just have a good day. It's nice," said Dave Janssen.

"I think with our jobs, we're so busy, so we don't get a lot of time together. It's pretty special when we do get to have time just to be together, all of us as a family," said Adriane Janssen.

Local mom, Eliza Alexander, said she was happy to celebrate her husband.

"It's a great day. We get to spend it with Daddo, and celebrate him and everything he does for the family and it's special," said Alexander, with her son Wesley adding in "I love Daddo."
