BRIDGEPORT, W.VA (WDTV) - (FSU game release):
Matt Bingaya poured in 28 points to lead No. 25 Fairmont State to a 96-80 win over Findlay (OH) on Tuesday night at Joe Retton Arena.
Bingaya hit 13-of-14 shots from the field, including a three-pointer, and also grabbed five rebounds for the Falcons (3-0).
As a team Fairmont State shot 53 percent from the field and connected on 12 three-point tries. Jason Jolly hit five three-pointers and finished with 18 points. Thomas Wimbush also scored 18 points and added eight rebounds.
The Falcons held a slim 23-21 lead midway through the first half before breaking the game open with a 19-7 run over the next five minutes. FSU stretched its lead to as many as 17 points in the half before settling for a 49-37 lead at the break.
FSU opened the second half with a 10-2 run and quickly put the game out of reach. The Falcons led by at least 15 points for most of the second half in cruising to the 96-80 victory.
Findlay (1-1) had four players in double figures led by Martyce Kimbrough's 13. Taren Sullivan and Elijah Kahlig each had 11 and Alex White had 10 points and five rebounds. The Oilers shot 50 percent from the field, but were out-rebounded 37-33 and committed 19 turnovers in the game.
Fairmont State is back in action on Saturday, Nov. 19, against West Virginia Wesleyan at 7:30 p.m. in the MEC opener in Buckhannon.
