GLENVILLE, W.VA (WDTV) - (GSC game release):
Glenville, W.Va. – The Glenville State Pioneers dropped their third straight game of the season on Wednesday night at the Waco Center to the Alderson Broaddus University Battlers, 77-71.
Glenville State (0-3) had four players score in double figures with Darhius Nunn leading the Pioneers with 20 points while Alderson Broaddus (2-1) had three players post double figures and Brandon Willis scoring a game high 27 points.
The Pioneers would get off to a great start as they went on an 8-0 run early as they took an 11-3 lead, their largest lead of the first half, at the 16:25 minute mark. However the Battlers would make a run and tie it up at 16 all with 11:00 to play till halftime.
After that both teams would battle back and forth but GSC took a slight lead at the 2:00 minute mark at 28-25 as Theo Brown laid it up and in for two of his four first half points. Alderson Broaddus would hit two free throws before halftime as they pulled within one point 28-27 as we headed into the break.
The first half saw just two lead changes and six ties.
Alderson Broaddus came out in the second half and went on a 12-4 run as they built a seven point lead, 39-34 at the 14:47 minute mark. The Battlers then extended their lead to 12 points twice at the 11:35 minute mark and then again at the 10:55 minute mark.
Glenville State battled back and cut the Battlers lead to three points with just 2:34 left to play at 69-66. The Pioneers then cut it to two points with 45 seconds but
Alderson Broaddus would nail their free-throws down the stretch as they held on to the six points victory over the Pioneers, 77-71.
The Pioneers shot 38 percent from the floor and finished the night 5-of-19 from deep for 26 percent while the Battlers shot 45 percent from the floor and 27 percent from deep.
GSC had a nice lift from the bench tonight as they outscored AB's bench 26 to 5 on the night.
Darhius Nunn led the Pioneers with 20 points with 18 of them coming in the second half. Nunn also dished out a game high eight assists and four rebounds. Theo Brown had a nice night off the bench for GSC as he scored 15 points as he was perfect from the floor going 5-of-5.
Jon Dunmyer chipped in with 11 points while JR Kerr scored 10 points on the night.
Alderson Broaddus was led by Brandon Willis as he scored a game high 27 points while Mike Davis scored 25 points and Malik Bocook chipped in with 12 points and grabbed 10 rebounds as he posted a double-double.
Glenville State (0-3) will return to the court this Saturday, November 18th as they host the Hilltoppers of West Liberty at 4 p.m. from the Waco Center.
