Black Bear pitching dominates Scrappers to win 4-0

GRANVILLE, W.VA (WDTV) - (Black Bears game release):

GRANVILLE, WV – The West Virginia Black Bears defeated the Mahoning Valley Scrappers 4-0 on Sunday afternoon. Ike Schlabach, Blake Weiman and Matt Seelinger combined to limit the Scrappers to only two hits in the shut out.

Deon Stafford Jr. led the bottom of the fourth inning off with a single to right field and was brought home on a ground out by Tristan Gray.

The Black Bears built on their lead later in the seventh inning. Brett Pope and Chris Sharpe began the inning with back to back walks and Jared Oliva reached first after a fielding error by Mahoning Valley. Stafford Jr. came to the plate with the bases loaded and knocked in Pope with a single to right field. Dylan Busby came to bat next and drove in a run to give the Black Bears a 3-0 lead.

Sandy Santos drove in Raul Siri for the Black Bears final run of the game in the bottom of the eighth inning. The Black Bears (34-24) will take on the Scrappers (31-25) tomorrow in the rubber match of their series at 7:05 PM.
