ELKINS, W.VA (WDTV) - Elkins kicker and punter George Triplett has earned one of the state's highest honors. The senior has won the Fulton Walker Award, which is presented annually to the state's best special teams player, by the WVSWA. Triplett leaves Elkins as the program record holder for longest field goal made, single-season field goals and career field goals. He is also fifth on the Elkins career scoring list for all players. This season, Triplett punted 29 times for an average of 46 yards per boot and he only allowed 45 punt return yards all season. On 52 kickoffs, Triplett sent 44 into the end zone for touchbacks. And he also made nine field goals, four of those were from beyond forty yards, including the program-best 45 yard kick. Triplett is currently undecided on his college destination.
